Have strong opinions, but I welcome any civil fact-based discussion.

Some do, others don’t. Many people that care about truth, but were ignorant before, will have to do something about it since “AI” generated content is so prevalent now.
Some people just can’t be helped. But it will affect thinking population.
Does this mean the creator of the Python language is a Microsoft employee now?
Yes, he is employed by Microsoft now. He did step down from Python as BDFL in 2018.
Further, does this mean that Python in spreadsheets only works in the cloud MS Office?
It’s not technically limited to only Microsoft Cloud, but Azure-powered services, but it’s kind of the same.
Implications from the patent being granted are yet to be seen, but it’s not looking good. It will severely limit external tools if MS decides to enforce the patent.
Honestly, it’s not a bad thing. People were used to believe every single thing they saw. Now they are forced to verify information or least stop and think if it’s true.
It’s fun for a while, but for me, it lacks the replayability. I have ~50ish hours in there, but after that I just couldn’t stay engaged. Even tried again after a bigger patch, still couldn’t hook me in.
You are correct. I got distracted and forgot that the article was talking about office work.
In this case, non-competes prevent people from quitting and switching the job. Also, people forget, that a lot of office workers moved to live outside the city center after the pandemic, so now having to commute is a lot more than mere inconvenience.
While that makes sense in big cities, in more rural areas Amazon either bought out or bankrupted all competition, so there are no job alternatives. Had a brain fart moment.
Does anyone even care about Windows Apps at this point?
No audit, no 2FA, no transparency report, limited servers, proprietary clients. There are better options.
If he wanted, he could have just open sourced the game, but chose not to.
This is the only program that I wasn’t able to find a good open source alternative. Stuck with using XYplorer.
Open source alternatives are either stuck in 1990 or lack basic features.
The article is literally about there being enough tools available without needing to add more “large surveillance programs” or breaking E2EE.
AI is not replacing the jobs, CEO greed is. Like you mentioned, this will fail spectacularly.
I noticed this today too, no idea what is going on. Need to reach out to the instance admin, since it’s only happening on my instance as far as I can see.
It’d be one thing if X didn’t actively promote disinformation but they are doing that. They’re picking what and who to promote via their algorithm.
That’s the argument being revisited in US courts right now. If you choose to promote something, you are doing the editorializing and shouldn’t be protected under Section 230. And with how much a certain party hates the whole section, it’s likely to get struck or limited if it ever reaches the Supreme Court. That irony would be lovely.
If they had a hands-off approach to free speech (like any given Mastodon instance) I’d agree with you.
Just to be clear, Mastodon doesn’t have “hands-off approach to free speech”. Each instance has clear rules around what they allow and don’t allow. Just the federated nature of it prevents censorship, so all opinions can be heard.
