i guess we can expect the inevitable mass enshittification too, soon…
i guess we can expect the inevitable mass enshittification too, soon…
how cheaply our data is bought…
ITT: arc shills
i tried it with bogus accounts just to see what all the hype was, and yea… it’s just bloatware pretending to be something “new” and “innovative” just to get suckers to sign up with their actual info
yea, one properly motivated one will figure out how to do it, then show all the can’t be assed ones
kids will easily find ways around this, and social medias will facilitate it
aka nothing will change whatsoever
i installed it while i was bored in a doctor waiting room, thought it was the dumbest most pointless thing ever. deleted after 5 minutes and went on with my life
we’ve been seeing these “twitter’s in biiiiiiiiig trouble now!!” headlines for how many years now?
yet people refuse to just delete it
i can’t wait for the day i can go a full 24 hours without twitter shit showing up on every feed
nothing lasts forever without being enshittified
great…
lol that’s what i used before i switched to bitwarden-- didn’t have any complaints, but the database key file thing was kind of a pain
so the “no longer open source” means they’ll be moving to a saas model or something? i’m not super cybersecurity savvy but bitwarden is what i use
so what’s the best pw manager?
seems mostly accurate, except there was no bittorrent in 2002
edit: apparently the protocol was released in 2001- TIL
negative press
pretty fucked up that quiet firing via RTO bullshit is less negative press than just laying people off
people wouldn’t quit twitter if they had to pay in kidneys for it
lol we use google suite for email, calendars etc. but MS for SSO. our sister institutions mostly use MS 365, teams etc, so we also have to have all the MS crap in addition to the google crap
i remember having to actually call an ISP to cancel, as there was no online option, so it was one of the rare occasions of getting a human being on the phone almost instantly and it was
“i’m calling to cancel my service”
“why?”
“cancel the service”
“are you moving?”
“cancel the service”
“are you switching to another provider?”
“cancel the service”
“is the bill too high? would lowering the bill change your mind?”
“cancel the service”
and on and on and on for 45 minutes
the problem is so many office workplaces use windows and google, so unless you want to bring your own computer and buy a wifi hotspot to take to work, you’re stuck on windows and google
yea, stupid that the line only go up mentality means it doesn’t matter how many great titles you released, one single turd release and you’re finished
