Good
Sad that companies have to publicise “we’re not shit” and I celebrate the news because it is so exceptional.
I never could get into terraria, but some days I want to buy it just to support a good developer.
Already own it, but sometimes I want to buy it again for the same reason. But also to try to get certain friends to play.
If I had friends and my own set time to just game I think it would be fun. But those types of games are not fun alone for me.
I played the game solo to get to good enough stuff to play with friends in a hardmode server (they would have provided equipment if I asked probably, but I preferred exploring the game by myself first). Ended up barely playing with friends.
It was a bit hard to get into at first because I didn’t like the starting weapon. The stab motion felt too difficult. But you can pretty quickly get a sword that swings and it’s much better.
I got really hooked on the game after pushing just a bit further to get a better weapon.
I think after years and years of 3d games, I just don’t like 2d anymore.
I’ve become institutionalized by a third dimension…
I don’t even enjoy Castlevania anymore and those games were my jam back in the day.
That’s a real shame. I barely enjoy games at all anymore but here’s hoping Stalker 2 ends up good.
Baldur’s Gate 2 is in my all time top three. I loved the sequel and played the shit out of it, for a few weeks and never finished.
For what it’s worth Symphony of the Night is also in my top 3.
Hope you’re able to get through that at some point. There’re some banger 2d games. Terraria, of course. Stardew(ish) if the farm sim genre is your jam. Hollow Knight, which is in contention for my favorite game of all time. A huge number of great rogue-likes.
As much as I want the update, I respect their respect for their devs. Let crunch be a thing of the past.
Imagine if he was the only dev and with this he is just telling us that he doesnt give a fuck about deadlines and will treat himself well. :D
Why would Terraria staff ever crunch? Nobody except the utterly deranged would be expecting more content from them, and even then there would be no reasonable person who would need it sooner. There’s no deadline for them to crunch to.
I don’t play Terraria and don’t follow its updates, but the only situation I could assume might justify crunch is if the devs confirmed a date for an update, and they were in danger of failing to meet it. Not justify as in “it would be right for them to crunch”. More like “I could imagine a company would expect the workers to crunch for this”
Didn’t terraria get its “last” update a while ago? Or am I thinking of another game?
They’ve been releasing “last” updates for years.
Terraria keeps having “last” updates.
It’s better to accept that during the heat death of the universe, someones going to be pushing out one last big update.
There have been more updates released after the first “last update” than before it
1.4 was called “Journeys End” and they still updated the game after that
That was the 5th final update I think. This one is the 6th final update.
Sounds like the devs enjoy the game as much as everybody else.
Several times. I’m wondering if they gave up on saying that by now.
I think someone there thinks of or sees something that would work well and is given a green light to just work at it. If it becomes something they add it into a final-final-{date} release.
Crunching is one of the more shitty practices of big publishers. I’m glad to hear that Terraria’s devs are taking their time to ensure quality of the update and also their own well being.
Good. I need more time with Foctorio before more Terraria updates.
Did Terraria ever get native super ultrawide 32:9 support in any update?
