Pray they don’t, but I’m almost certain they will now that the US is appointing complete morons to every portion of the US government. The US won’t really be able to help until this rot gets cleaned out. China has four years before we can really help Taiwan again. (Or at least give them air superiority)

I recently bought a cheap phone after I broke my main one, because I needed something while my main one was being “repaired”. It turns out that this new cheap phone has a headphone jack AND a better stylus. It also had a solid 1000mah bigger battery and 10w extra of charging over my old flagship.

When the repair shop told me that the 20 cent ribbon connector couldn’t be replaced and that the repair would be $600 for a new screen and glass back, I decided to keep the cheap phone, which works damn well. It’s so nice to have a headphone jack to use again. All my other shit still has headphones jacks from my PC/laptop/SD to my car and stuff like kitchen stereos. I can use my Bluetooth earbuds, but they only have about 5 hours of playback and have a bad click in one bud after the first year of use.

I’m almost disappointed at how good this mid-range, $250 phone is compared to my $1,700 Samsung. I’ve been wasting money for years on flagships. Not going back after I got my data transferred to my new phone.

That is surprisingly expensive there. I think it’s like 12¢/kwh here (though we have block one and block two prices depending on how many kwh you use in a month, so it could be a higher rate if you are eating through tons of power).

It is extremely complex, requires half a dozen countries just to do, and requires incredible education and extremely long work hours.

Even if they did, starting a chip company is fucking difficult AF. You don’t want one mega company. You end up in a situation like Canada where they have one airline company and barely any cell carriers.

Competition is healthy. Fingers crossed that Nvidia starts making x86 CPUs as well as Qualcomm. AMD needs more competition too.

The GPU industry also needs some real competition.

Stuff like this is probably mostly tech demo, but there are instances where it could make jobs safer (hot work in locations with corrosive or explosive gases nearby, such as at a chemical plant, underwater welding site, responding to gas leaks, etc.

Watch the USCSB channel on YouTube for good examples of dangerous jobs, such as putting out uncontrolled chemical fires, or performing hot work during the most dangerous times at chemical plants, when stuff is shut down for maintenance and might still be leaking catalysts. Robots could save lives.

I’ve heard about this dude since like…2018. At some point you have to move on. Shit like that will consume you, and it’s just not worth losing years of your life over it. Talk about a needle in a haystack.

While I hate stuff like these rollbacks, we are already starting to see EVs save people money on gas and service, and they are stupidly fast compared to ICE counterparts. That’s something Americans of all stripes can get behind.

Once I tried an ebike, I realized I never wanted to go back to gas engines. So fast, so much torque, and pennies to charge vs $70 gas tanks at Costco (even more at a normal gas station). It just makes economic sense to run PEVs in all major urban areas in addition to mass transit.

With traffic and some protected bike lanes, even a conventional bike can almost beat a car in a 7-14 mile drive in my city. An ebike makes it even easier.

Every time I try Linux on my own, it’s fine. But God forbid I ever use any device that comes with Linux pre-installed, and I’m cursed. I’m on my third steam deck after it software bricked itself, and our university Linux server is so unstable that it disconnects my session with vim every 30 minutes or so. Pain. At least there’s a method to the madness: trust nobody but myself :P
